Last Wednesday NVRC joined HLAA in asking organizations and individuals across the U.S. to sign on to a letter to Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), asking them to provide funding to National Public Radio. The funding is to test captioned radio in several U.S. cities.  We need this pilot program to see what, if anything, still needs to be done to perfect it to be available across the U.S.

You’ve probably noticed that today’s digital radios have displays that make text much more readable. With your help, one day in the future you will be able to get the latest news, emergency information, great talk shows, entertainment, and yes, the lyrics to music so we know what our hearing friends – and kids – are listening to!   And you might be able to read broadcasts wherever you are, and on whatever device you have – radio, phone, computer, tablet, maybe even a special surface on your bathroom mirror!

Already a letter has been sent to CPB signed by 51 national, state and regional organizations.

Now you can help as an individual.  Read the letter sent by the organizations and then simply type in your name and address to support it at:

It takes just seconds, but can change so many lives. Share this with others so they can be a part of something revolutionary.
