Cecil R. Prillaman, Sr. of Pulaski, VA passed away June 16, 2012. He was born in Henry, VA on August 23, 1917 and was preceded in death by his parents, Crockett Lee and Minnie Hall Prillaman and his wife, Nellie Aust Prillaman. He was also predeceased by brothers and sisters: Charlie Marshall, Gertrude, Elizabeth, Jesse, Bernice, Ocie, Christine, Gold, Betty Ruth, and Robert, and by his daughter-in-law, Kaye Catron Prillaman. Surviving him are sons and daughter: William Norman Prillaman of Forest, Cecil Roy Prillaman, Jr. (Mercedes) of Roanoke and Lucy Prillaman Howlett of Pulaski; 6 grandchildren: William Norman Prillaman II (Sonya) of Forest, Amy Prillaman Cardwell, (Bobby) of Altavista, Robert Anthony Prillaman of Roanoke, Erin Prillaman Dietsch, (Nick) of Durham, NC, Sarah Caitlin Howlett and Carly Jane Howlett of Pulaski; 5 great grandchildren and one great great grandson.
Cecil worked as a linotype machinist at the Southwest Times for 23 years and then transferred to the Roanoke Times where he worked as an offset machinist until his retirement in 1981.
The family will receive friends at Stevens Funeral Home from 1:00-2:00 pm Wednesday prior to the funeral service at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, June 20th at Stevens with interment to follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
