STAUNTON — Having graduated a lot of its key players, the Virginia School for the Deaf and the Blind’s volleyball team faces a challenging season.

“It’s going to be different,” second-year coach Patti Cooke said through an interpreter. “We lost a lot of star players.”

This year the Cardinals have nine players on a young team. However, three of the six starters do return to a team that finished 2-12 overall.
